Sea Salt Lobster was founded in 2009 by owners Morey Highbarger and Shawn McEwen, two enterprising Mainers who care deeply about seafood sustainability. They know Maine Lobster is some of the best seafood in the world, and they’ve spent years bringing it to consumers around the globe – from their own restaurant in Saco, ME to as far as Seoul, Korea. Sea Salt delivers high-quality fresh, live lobster and meat, buying and selling hundreds of thousands of pounds each week. This company has three separate arms: their restaurant in Saco, ME, their online delivery service, and a wholesale option. Sea Salt Lobster is your one-stop shop for everything concerning Maine seafood, no matter the scale of your needs.
Sea Salt ships the same lobster they serve in their restaurant, meaning you’ll only get the highest quality product they offer. Customers can choose live lobsters between 1lb and 3lbs, which range in price from $12.99 to $39.99. Sea Salt Lobster uses FedEx to provide timely delivery orders. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout and take into consideration both the weight of your order and shipping distance. If you have special instructions or requests, you can add a note to your order prior to purchasing. All live lobster shipments come in a gel-lined cooler pack complete with a lobster kit.
Founders Morey Highbarger and Shawn McEwen care deeply about keeping Maine’s waters clean. As a result, owning a certified, sustainable fishery has been an important part of this business since its founding. The company has built relationships with several wharfs in Downeast Maine, known colloquially as the heart of Maine Lobster waters. While they don’t source lobster themselves, these relationships help the company meet their goal of providing a great product sustainably while maintaining affordable prices.
Recipes and Resources
All live lobster deliveries come with a lobster kit, which includes crackers, picks, wet naps, salt butter, bibs, and place mat instructions. While the website does not maintain a resource guide or recipe tab, the place mat instructions should provide everything you need to prepare your live lobster accordingly.
