Overview
Lucky Catch Lobster may be a relative newcomer to the Maine lobster scene, but its founder has been lobstering since the early 1980’s. The company began as a lobster cruise provider, giving those interested a peak into what it’s like to be a lobsterman. Since then, Lucky Catch Lobster has grown to be one of the best seafood providers in Maine. The family-owned business is proud of what they do, providing both excellent lobster and unparalleled customer service.
Shipping
All lobster and seafood items are packed in Styrofoam coolers with frozen gel packs and covered with fresh seaweed when the season allows. The coolers are then packed in larger, corrugated boxes and sealed tight to guarantee freshness. All orders are sent overnight exclusively through FedEx, which will deliver items between 10:30 a.m. and the end of the day. Lucky Catch Lobster does not require a signature for you to receive the package, so you do not need to be present when FedEx arrives.
Orders ship Monday through Friday and deliver Tuesday through Saturday, though there is an additional $20 charge for Saturday deliveries. Additional surcharges are added to shipments to Alaska and Hawaii, and all orders must be received by 4:00 p.m. for delivery on the following day.
Lucky Catch Lobster guarantees live and intact lobsters upon arrival, but they recommend making arrangements for the package to be left in a cool, dry spot upon delivery.
Harvesting Methods
Lucky Catch Lobster is set apart from other companies in the area because they catch their own seafood. Tom, the founder, began his lobstering career in the mid 1980’s and has built his own traps. He spends his days out on the boat, catching lobster and sending them immediately to the shipping and packaging center. Plus, Lucky Catch Lobster abides by the State of Maine’s strict lobster fishing laws, striving to ensure future generations can experience this freshness for themselves.
Recipes and Resources
Lucky Catch Lobster has extensive resources online. This includes a couple dozen recipes, including appetizers, pastas, and entrées, as well as cooking instructions, such as how to cook, boil, grill, or steam a lobster. They also provide a step-by-step guide for shucking a Maine lobster. If you’re in the area and want to learn more about the lobstering industry, take advantage of their lobstering excursions.
