Fran and her crew use the gillnet F/V Janet Elaine to source sockeye salmon from Bristol Bay. With commercial fishing experience going back 35 years, including 30 years running her own boat, Fran Kaul has created a small-scale commercial fishing operation with impeccable control over the process and quality of delivering fresh, wild-caught salmon to your doorstep. Their gillnetted salmon is immediately bled and refrigerated, delivered to a tender boat within 4 to 8 hours. De-boned, fresh-filleted, flash-frozen and vacuum-sealed, Misty Fjord Seafood salmon is as fresh as it gets and ready to be thawed and cooked according to your favorite recipe.

Shipping

If there’s one gripe we have about this amazing salmon, it’s that Misty Fjord has only regional shipping locations. This includes natural foods markets in WA, WY, IA, WI, and MN, as well as special one-time deliveries in December to Durango, Telluride, and Salt Lake City. But here’s the good news: If you do live within reasonable distance of one of these markets and special delivery locations, you can get the same flash-frozen freshness as other companies without the additional shipping cost.

Where They Fish

Bristol Bay in the water districts of Togiak, Nushagak, Naknek-Kvichak, Egegik, and Ugashik.

Type of Fish

Sockeye, lox, and smoked keta salmon.
